As speculated Ervin Santana has been traded to the Kansas City Royals for LHP Brandon Sisk
  • Oct 31 2012 the Angels picked up Ervins option for 2013 worth $13 million then traded him to the Kansa City Royals for Sisk. (Bleacher Report)
  • Its not a shocked that Santana got traded the Angels were not looking to keep him around for the 2013 season after the horrible season he had with a 9-13 record and a 5.16ERA and a -1.5WAR. (Bleacher Report)
  • the Angels had two options accept Santana's option of $13 million and hope he shapes up and get that's slider under control or buy him out for $1 million.
  • Dipoto being the mastermind that he is went with a combination of the two option and took on the option of $13 million but then shipped him out along with $1 million to KC to get Sisk.
  • Dipoto said "it's an opp for both teams to get something they did not have. Royals didn't have rotation depth. We didn't have bullpen depth."
