Torii is being criticised for his comment about gay athletes and how he will feel if he would have a gay teammate. In a recent interview Torii Hunter says

"For me, as a Christian … I will be uncomfortable because in all my teachings and all my learning, biblically, it's not right," Hunter told Baxter. "It will be difficult and uncomfortable."

many people are getting on Torii for this comment for example:

SomethingSomething wrote: "Now I'm very happy the Angels got rid of Torii Hunter. He went from a player I liked and admired to someone I cannot root for."

LKegen wrote, "Between this and his comments after the Angels signed Josh Hamilton, I'm glad Torii Hunter is no longer with the team."

JohnnyFelix wrote: "I guess Torii just skipped over all that stuff that Jesus taught in the New Testament."

Torii Hunter says that his comment was taken out of content. (LA Times)

Angels Trade Kendrys Morales for Jason Vargas

http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&sa=X&tbo=d&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbnid=3TinAqiNo-xwWM:&imgrefurl=http://www.foxsportswest.com/12/19/12/Angels-acquire-lefty-Jason-Vargas/landing.html%3FblockID%3D837539%26feedID%3D3707&docid=ODdrFxFB4AajZM&imgurl=http://www.foxsportswest.com/common/medialib/272/724429.jpg&w=660&h=380&ei=t8DSUMDoEOLTiwKx04DADA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=230&vpy=273&dur=1606&hovh=170&hovw=296&tx=199&ty=119&sig=100609994674066452121&page=1&tbnh=143&tbnw=241&start=0&ndsp=26&ved=1t:429,r:19,s:0,i:179

Angels have been very busy this off season they have just added another arm to the rotation. The Angels acquired LHP Jason Vargas from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for infielder Kendrys Morales.

Vargas, 29, finished the 2012 season with a 14-11 record with a 3.85 ERA (217.1 IP - 93 ER) and 141 strikeouts. The left-hander led the Mariner staff in wins and quality starts (22) while setting career highs in wins, starts, innings pitched and strikeouts. The Southern California native finished amongst the American League leaders in starts (T4th), quality starts (4th), innings pitched (6th), WHIP (1.178, 10th) and complete games (2, T10th). (Angels)

I am very happy to see this trade it is not a huge trade but it is one that will help the Angels make it to the playoffs. Vargas is a fly ball pitcher which I have seen for years pitch with Seattle, he is very dependable and he is very consistent. He will benefit very much from a change of scenery just like Doug Fister did after leaving Seattle for Detroit.

I am also glad to see that the Angels did not trade Peter or Mark because they are young and still under team control for some years to come. Also I really like Morales but he is a Scott Boras client and Morales has also pointed out that he wants to play the field again. However, that is not happening when you have Albert playing first so after the season ends he will leave the Angels as a free agent with the Angels not offering him a new contract.

So overall I feel like the Angels helped themselves not only for this season but for the future seasons by not trading their future. This probably means that either Joe Blanton or Garret Richards will be in the pen.

According to Ken Rosenthal the Angels visit with Josh before the signing.

Ken Rosenthal@Ken_Rosenthal
Sources: owner Arte Moreno and team president John Carpino visited Josh Hamilton at his home in Texas earlier this week.

Now none could tell me the Art Moreno is no dedicated to winning!!!
Don't be surprise if the Angels trade Peter Bourjos for R.A Dickey or maybe release Vernon Wells and trade Mark Trumbo for some pitching.
Josh is going to have his physical on Friday and probably have his press conference Saturday

This are some reactions to the signing of Josh Hamilton:

I was told money was tight but I guess the Arte had money hidden under a Mattress. Business is business but don't lie.

Great signing for the Angels. One the best players in baseball.

Mike Trout@Trouty20
Wow

"I was shocked, I won't lie to you,'' Pujols told USA TODAY Sports. "We talked this afternoon. He's really pumped up. So am I. He's going to perform and help our organization. We're blessed and excited to have him.''

I though this was really funny:

Angels did it again this off season with the recent signing of Josh Hamilton to a 5year/ $125million contract. Dodgers could keep Zach I will take Josh. This will give the Angels on of the best line-ups in baseball with the best 3-4 in baseball. More details will be up as they are provided.

O the best part the Angels take away Josh from the Rangers.

Angels are Busy During the Winter Meetings

http://www.google.com/imgres?num=10&hl=en&tbo=d&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbnid=XjjBQpzJSdBLYM:&imgrefurl=http://articles.latimes.com/2012/aug/06/sports/la-sp-0806-dodgers-notes-20120806&docid=4n3nJ05jUdkb4M&imgurl=http://www.trbimg.com/img-501f2c77/turbine/la-sp-0806-dodgers-notes-20120806-001/600&w=600&h=426&ei=izvAUMvjBoL2igKvi4HIAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=365&vpy=148&dur=264&hovh=189&hovw=267&tx=168&ty=91&sig=100609994674066452121&page=3&tbnh=135&tbnw=190&start=49&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:74,s:0,i:342

Once again this off season the Angels add some depth to the rotation and bullpen. Angels sign Sean Burnett to a two years $8 million with a option for a 3rd year for $4.5 million with a $500,000 buyout.

Burnett is 30 years old Lefty that posted a 2.76 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP in 176 1/3 innings while pitching for the Nationals from 2010-12, averaging 7.8 strikeouts and 2.7 walks per nine innings. Burnett throws sidearm, uses a heavy sinker to get a lot of ground balls -- 53.3 percent for his career -- and can also get right-handed hitters out. He had bone spurs removed from his pitching elbow in the off season, but is expected to be fully healthy for Spring Training. (MLB)

The Angels did not stop with Sean Burnett because they also sign Joe Blanton to a two-year, $15 million contract with a option for a 3rd year.

Blanton is 31 years old Right Handed that went 10-13 with a 4.71 ERA in 31 games  with 30 starts for the Phillies and Dodgers in 2012. Blanton has been a inning eater but he does give up the long ball with 29 Hrs last year. (MLB)

I really like the Sean signing because he will help out Downs especially because Downs is getting older and he needs to be healthy. Also this will give Angels better weapons in the close games with two strong lefty that could match up very well.

However, I am not sure about the Joe signing because for the money I don't think he is that big of a upgrade from Jerome Williams, however, don't rule out maybe Joe was sign for a back up starter and maybe a log relieve man because he has always had a very good arm. This will allow the angels to sign one more pitcher like  Brandon McCarthy or Edwin Jackson. Personally I would want Brandon McCarthy.

Add Another Award To Mike Trouts Trophy Case

Mike Trout wins two 2012 GIBBYS Awards for Rookie of the Year and Play of The Year.

The play of the year was the famous home run that was robbed by Mike Trout of the bat of JJ Hardy on June 27 at Oriole Park.

It was pretty sad to see Torri Hunter signing with the Tigers but I understand the move from the Angels side of things. I am very happy that he sign with a good team that will allow him to be close to his son. However, Torri is a very special player that gave the Angels fan everything he had every day. Every time I meet him he always had a huge smile and he was always very good especially with the kids. But please take the time to read a message that Torri has put up on his website for all Angels fans to read. Click Here

Angels Acquire Tommy Hanson from the Braves for Jordan Walden

http://www.google.com/imgres?num=10&hl=en&tbo=d&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&tbnid=gZuPJIBhdzX46M:&imgrefurl=http://bigstory.ap.org/content/fraziers-hr-sends-reds-over-braves-2-1&docid=T-SSyGtyXwToWM&imgurl=http://binaryapi.ap.org/2049bcc769af4190b8b24dd3cebfc9c2/460x.jpg&w=460&h=336&ei=9AC5UPzGGYreiAKQ7YFo&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=504&vpy=336&dur=100&hovh=192&hovw=263&tx=158&ty=157&sig=100609994674066452121&page=1&tbnh=140&tbnw=179&start=0&ndsp=27&ved=1t:429,r:22,s:0,i:161

Angels have been very busy this off season just going through another trade. The Angels traded Jordan Walden to the Braves for 26 years old right handed Tommy Hanson. (Angels)

Hanson has a record of 45-32 with a 3.61 ERA in 108 starts over his four seasons with the Braves. Last year year he went 13-10 with a 4.48 ERA in 174 2/3 innings this year.

I like this trade even with the concerns with Tommy's shoulder. I feel like he will be a very good 4th starter that will not have to go deep into the games because the bullpen will be stronger this year. He is a very good pitcher and he is still young, Also he is a very cheap and effective pitcher with a $530,000 salary last year. He is entering arbitration years season.

Zach Greinke's price tag might be a little too high for the Angels. Many people around baseball are estimating that Greinke is looking to get a massive deal perhaps as much as $25 million a year for up to 5-6 years.

However, according to CBS' Danny Knobler reported that the Angels were considered the frontrunner's for Greinke but because the price tag the Angels are looking somewhere else.

I personally will like if the Angels will look somewhere else because $25 million for 5-6 years is a little too much for me. Zach is a really good pitcher but I don't think he is the Cy Young pitcher he was in 2009 and to pay him soo much money for 2 or 3 more wins is not worth it. I rather see the Angels get someone less expensive like Brandon McCarthy because of the injury he had he should be pretty cheap. Also someone like Ryan Dempster, Kyle Lohse  that are ground ball pitchers or even Francisco Liriano if he come cheap because when he is on he is could be a really good 4 or 5 starter. I feel like the Angels could get two good starters that will eat up innings and will have 12-16 wins each. I believe that will allow the Angels to also sign one or two more relievers like Mike Adams and Kyuji Fujikawa. I feel like that will be money well spend and it will help the Angels in the long run.

Angels agree to terms with RHP Ryan Madson

Its official the Angels sign RHP Ryan Madson.

Angels inked Ryan to a 1-year, $3.5-million deal with incentive of $2.5 million based on the number of days he spends on the active roster and an additional $1 million in games finished incentives. (LA TIMES)
I really like this signing because the Angels are very informed with Ryan's post surgery recovery because the Angels medical staff was the group that did the surgery and has been helping him in the rehabilitation so it is not like the Angels are going in with their eyes close.

According to Jayson Stark of ESPN, the Angels are making Jordan Walden available. However, I am not sure how I feel because Jordan is still young and he has a 100+ fastball. I just feel like he need to have confident in himself and learn from players like Scott Downs how to pitch. If the Angels sign one or two more relievers I might be ok with him being traded because I don't see the Angels getting much for him right now.

Angels seem to be getting ready to add a new arm in the pen
Free-agent reliever Ryan Madson has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Angels on a one-year contract pending a physical exam, a baseball source told ESPN.(ESPN)

Just like I said earlier this month that the Angels should go after Madson because he is a very good closer if he is healthy. He will be a low risk high reward guy. If and when this deal goes through it will really help Ernesto and Downs to have a ideal set up role.

Mike Trout Finish 2nd in the MVP Voting

Miguel Cabrera wins his first MVP award letting Mike Trout finishing second.

I must admit Mike Trout was the best player in baseball but having Miguel Cabrera winning the Triple Crown made it very hard for Mike to win the MVP.

Jered Weaver Finished 3rd in AL Cy Young Voting

Once again Jered Weaver Falls Short in the Cy Young Voting.

He went 20-5 2.81 ERA 188.2 IP 1.02 WHIP O yea and throw a No-Hitter. Jered Weaver finished 3rd behind Justin Verlander and Cy Young Winner David Price. I felt like Jered had a very good chance to win this award but the last few games did hurt him. However, I fell this will give Jered something to look forward to for next year.

I really think that the Angels need to sign Zack to really help Jered next year. I feel if the Angels sign Zack that will help Jered hopefully win the Cy Young because Jered would be able to relax a little more and he would not have to be the stopper every time the team has a losing streak, He will be able to help winning streaks continue.

Just Announced today Mike Trout was officially awarded Rookie of The Year along with Bryce Harper.

Watching Mike Trout this year I was really impressed with his ability. He was the major factor for the Angels success this pass year. He put up some ridicules number this year some of the best ever for a rookie if no the best. I am very excited to watch him grow as a Angel.

He ranked third in the AL in on-base percentage (.399), third in slugging (.564) and second in OPS (.963). He led the Majors in runs scored (129) and steals (49), getting caught just five times for a 90.7 success rate.

Trout was the first player in history to combine a .320-plus average with 30 or more homers and 45 or more steals. He's also the first to score at least 125 runs with 30 or more homers and 45 or more steals.

The sky is the limits with Mike Trout. Can't wait to see what he could do in a full season in the bigs.

Angels Interested in Japanese right-hander Kyuji Fujikawa

General Manager Jerry Dipoto confirming on Thursday that there is a mutual interest between the team and free-agent closer Kyuji Fujikawa. Dipoto goes on to say that the feeling is mutual because Kyuji has shown interest in playing in the west cost.

Fujikawa, 32, was playing for the Hanshin Tigers last year going 3-3 with a 1.24 ERA and 41 saves in 56 games. He also pitched in the WBC in 2006 and 2009. The best park of Kyuji is that he does not come with a posting like Yu did last year for the Ranger.

Dipoto has a very good idea of what Fujikawa is all about because when Dipoto was with Arizona Diamondbacks he spent time scouting in Japan.“I’ve seen him pitch against major league hitters on a world stage,” Dipoto said. “His talent is not a question.” (LA Times)

I feel like this will be a good pick up if the Angels are able to pull it off because he is experience. Also he three really good pitches and he was really good during the WBC.

On a side note Angels sign Mitch Stetter a 31 years old lefty that was with the Milwaukee Brewers from 2007-2011

Mike Trout Wins His First Silver Slugger Award

Silver Slugger announced on Thursday.

Mike Trout won his first silver slugger award but that is not all for Trout because he is a finalist for the ROY and MVP. Which I think he has a very good shot at both, he would have won a gold glove if he would have meet the required amount of games played. However, I think the ROY is in the bag the MVP could go either way between him and Cabrera.

Trout became the first rookie position player to win one since Ichiro Suzuki in 2001. He did so by leading all AL outfielders in batting average (.326), on-base percentage (.399) and OPS (.963) while finishing first in the Majors in stolen bases (49) and runs scored (129). The 21-year-old smacked 30 home runs and 27 doubles while driving in 83 runs. (MLB)

This event is really amazing. I participated in this even last year and i was able to step on to the field and take batting practices just like Trout, Trumbo and Albert. The best part I was supporting a very good cause. Lets make a difference and help less fortunate families have a enjoyable Thanksgiving this year.

I plan to attend this event again because it was a very nice experience I will never forget it because how many people can say that they took batting practice at Angels Stadium. Come out and support the community bring your family and friends.

Trout was named the first Wilson Defensive Player of the Year in the American League, announced Sunday night on MLB Network. Trout is going to have a very nice collection of award this off season. He should win the ROY hands down and maybe the MVP but we will have to wait till Nov 15 for that one. Angels #1 prospect Kaleb Cowart was selected to play in Saturdays Rising Stars Game.

Kaleb looked good during the Rising Start Game this passed Saturday. He did have a scary moment when he made a wonderful caught flying into the stands to get the fly ball.

Cowart went 1-2 with a run scored and a walk. I'm glad to see him improve very quick because he could be a nice addition at 3rd for the future because he will not be very expensive. Hope to see him in the bigs pretty soon.

Let All Join Together and Make a Difference

In C.J.'s words...
On November 18, I'm turning 32.

As a kid, being 32 seemed unfathomable- reaching adulthood seems impossible or out of reach when you're just turning 5 years old.

Sadly- that is still a reality for millions of kids around the world- why? Because they don't have access to clean, safe water.

Being healthy is the best gift you can get as you age- So I'm celebrating my birthday like never before. I love giving back and here is how we can do it together.

I'm asking for $32 or any amount from everyone I know -- and every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund clean water projects in developing nations- so kids and their families can get access to clean water. Every cent counts.

Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 18 months). That means we'll be able to see the communities we've helped!

My goal is to raise $10,000 for my birthday, November 18- the campaign goes until Dec 31. Watch this video and see what we can do now.

Please join me to make this birthday count- together we can make sure it does. (Clean Water)

Angels Trade Dan Haren To The Cubs For Reliever Carlos Marmol (@MikeDiGiovanna)

Mike DiGiovanna‏@MikeDiGiovanna
' Marmol has reportedly confirmed trade to to media in the Dominican Republic.

Breaking News
Dan Haren Trade did not go through. So before the 9pm Friday dateline the Angels declined Dan Haren's option of $15.5 million, so they paid the $3.5 million buyout. After Dipoto tried to make something happen he was not able to. However, don't roll out Dan Haren coming back to the Angels with a one year contact. (MLB)

To be honest I was not sure how i felt about this trade if it would have gone through because Carlos was owed $9.8 million which is a lot for a reliever that has some times pitched when he wants to pitch. Don't get me wrong when he is on he is good but that's only when he is motivated to pitch. When Carlos does not want to pitch he walk a lot of batters and is not very reliable.

Not having Haren or Santana this year, the Angels really need to sign Zack Greinke and make sure the Rangers don't sign him . He will be a very good 1-2 punch with CJ and Richards at the back end.

Joakim Soria became a free agent when Royals decline his 2013 option. Soria missed 2012 season after Tommy John surgery.(ESPN)

Reasons Why he will be a good fit
  • He is 28 years old
  • Has been a proven closer with 143 games safe under his belt (7th highest from 08-11). (ESPN)
  • He has a career record 13-15 with a 2.40ERA with 341 Ks in 315 1/3 inning. (ESPN)
  • Angels could probably buy low and could get very good results as a closer or set up man

Jonathan Broxton pitched 2012 for the Royals and Reds. He was a free agent last year and the KC took a chance on him and got a really good pitcher. He signed a one year $4 million deal with KC and how is a free agent again.

Reasons Why he will be a good fit
  • He is 28 years old (ESPN)
  • Proven closer and he also was a good set up man for Chapman with the Reds. (ESPN)
  • Collected 27 saves 10 holds just 6 blown saves and a 2.48ERA. (ESPN)
  • He might be a little more money but still should not be getting a big contract

Ryan  Madson did not pitch at all in 2012 due to Tommy John surgery after signing a one-year, $8.5MM deal with the Reds last winter. Madson declined his half of a mutual option for 2013, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. The option was worth $11MM, and he'll instead receive a $2.5MM buyout. (MLB Trade Rumor)

Reasons Why he will be a good fit
  • He is 32 years old
  • From 2009-2011 he pitched to a 2.78 ERA with 9.6 K/9 and 2.4 BB/9. (MLB Trade Rumor)
  • He is a proven back end pitcher and closer. He will be looking to close this season and he will  probably be looking for a 3-4 year deal similar deal as Brandon League sign with the Dodgers. (MLB Trade Rumor)
